www.bobbutlerphotographer.com - Fine Art Photography & Portraiture

Hi!

I am using this blog posting to publicly release my new personal website www.bobbutlerphotographer.com featuring fine art photography & portraiture. The work related to this new website is dedicated to the “old school” craft of film – large format, medium format and 35mm.

Film carries a naturally nostalgic and authentic quality that cannot be faked with actions, presets and edits applied to digital files… the very kind of photography which is so common and trendy today (especially in wedding photography). Everyone seems to be trying to make their photos look like film but not many people are actually doing it. This new site is obviously not primarily a wedding photography site. But, having said that, your entire wedding can be documented on medium format color and b&w film, something truly unique, archival, timeless and analog that will tell the story of your special day in a classic style that will not date over time. If this is something that you are interested in and would like to receive a quote, just contact me through my new website www.bobbutlerphotographer.com or email me at bob@bobbutlerphotographer.com.

Below are some screenshots of the new website that you can click on, but I recommend just going to the site itself to look around.

Thanks and enjoy!

THE TEAR-IMBUED HANDKERCHIEF OF VIC CHAMPIGNOLE

Here is a project that I have just completed and I thought would be fun to share on this blog. It’s taken me the better part of 4 long months of work to create this photo narrative and its good to be finally finished. We had an opening party at the Twin Kittens studio last night to release the new work.

The project is made up of 9 photographs which explore ‘behind the scenes or between the lines’ conceptual moments from a story called “The Tear-Imbued Handkerchief of Vic Champignole” which was written in 2004 by a close friend, Kris Allison. The story follows a narrator’s relationship with Vic Champignole’s fall from fame, a renowned landscape designer careening into madness. The narrator witnesses his own father, an inventor, struggling to cope with what life has dealt him and what his personal ambitions have been. In many ways, his father and Vic share this common conflict while they investigate it in contrasting ways.

If your interested in actually reading the story along with the photographs you can go to my personal website that I have just released which caries more of a focuses on “conceptual” fine art photography and portraiture. Here is a link to the new website: www.bobbutlerphotographer.com
